Born in 1951 and married with two daughters, he lives in Aschheim near Munich and manages major construction sites at home and abroad. Between 1985 and 2010 he was project manager for the research organisation The Fraunhofer Society in Munich, where up until the start of his partial retirement, he worked as a senior manager in the department for construction issues and real estate.
Besides his family, he loves gaming, writing, sport and travelling. His first games criticism appeared in 1984 in the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper. Later columns appeared in trade publications, daily and weekly newspapers, as well as on the radio. He is co-founder of the Bavarian games archive Haar, organises a regular journalists’ gaming group in Munich and, besides various other games exhibitions, organises the Aschheim games meet-up, which now attracts over 7,500 visitors.
