Karsten Grosser (born in 1971) is married with two children and lives in Melle near Osnabrück. After finishing his mathematics studies in Oldenburg, he started writing about local sports for the Nienburger Tageszeitung newspaper, first as a trainee and then editor. For seven years he worked in the editorial team of the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ). There he established a games website, which he continues to oversee, even after his move to the NOZ digital media team.
His passion for gaming is increasingly influenced by his family. Most of all by his small son who can never wait to unbox and try out new games. Karsten Grosser himself grew up with the classics and played: rummy with his grandparents, canasta with his parents, chess with his brother as well as Risk and Stratego with his cousins. His first contact with the “Spiel des Jahres” award came about in 1981: with that year’s winner “Focus”.
